Manchester is one of the best cities in the UK for gay travellers.
Whilst you won’t find any exclusively gay hotels in Manchester (like these gay hotels around Europe) you will find that all hotels will welcome you with open arms.
However, having lived in Manchester for a long time, and having experienced a number of hotels ourselves, if you are looking for some of the best hotels in Manchester for gay travellers we highly reccomend that you check out the following options.
Before you visit make sure to also check our Gay Travel Guide to Manchester.
Gay Friendly / Gay Hotels in Manchester
Manchester is a one of the biggest cities in the UK, yet it is very easy to walk around or jump on a tram to get from A-B.
You will find that no matter where you stay in and around the city centre, everything is easily accessible.
Manchester Hotels near the Gay Village
If you are coming to Manchester for a trip, we have no doubt you will spend time in the Gay Village!
We live for convienience so have listed our reccomended hotels in order of distance from the Gay Village with the first two hotels being 2 minutes apart (regardless – everything is very close).
DoubleTree by Hilton Manchester
Hilton have done so much work globally for the LGBTQ+ community, making them a brand we stand behind.
When it comes to Manchester, DoubleTree by Hilton Manchester sits just a 5 minute walk from the main train station (Manchester Piccadilly) and a mere 2-minute walk into the gay village – ideal!
The hotel itself opened in 2007, and was taken over as a Hilton in 2012.
Downstairs the hotel has a restaurant where breakfast is served, which is also open for meals to the general public, and the Store Street Craft Bar – so named after the old name for Manchester Piccadilly train station (Store Street train station) and the selection of craft beers they serve.
The hotel has an onsite gym, which in our opinion was very well equipped for a hotel gym, and an onsite car park with space for upto 25 cars.
The service, breakfast and everything about the hotel is exactly as you would expect from the Hilton brand and you are sure to receive a warm welcome (and warm cookie!) on arrival.
Welcome to indulgent luxury.
Velvet sits on Canal Street in the heart of the Gay Village and offers four styles of hotel rooms each individually designed and luxuriously decorated.
We love the Village Brasserie (the on site restuarant) where we have eaten many times this summer and also Velvet Bar for its carefully crafted cocktails.
Ranking within the top 20 hotels in Manchester on TripAdvisor with consistent rave reviews, this is a great choice for your next trip!
If you want style, character and to be wowed make sure to check out the 5* Kimpton Clocktower.
The rooms (especially the Heritage Suite) are stunning, grand and have many thoughtful local touches – when we walked in we felt like we could easily live here!
As a brand, Kimpton have always been committed allies to the LGBTQ+ community and this was particularly evident when we spoke with the General Manager on site.
It was also incredibly interesting to learn that each Kimpton takes on a concept fictional character to give every hotel its own unique personality, this was particulalry evident here.
When it comes to breakfast, this was one of the best – the service, the food and setting at the on site restaurant The Refuge was amazing. Make sure you also visit here on the evening for a meal – the food is out of this world!
Finally, you are just a 5 minute walk to manchester Oxford Road train station and a 5 minute walk to the Gay Village, great location!
Hotel Indigo Manchester
Hotel Indigo is immediately outside Manchester Victoria train station right in the city centre and a short 15 minute walk to the gay village.
This is one of the newer hotels in Manchester along with its on site restaurant Mamucium where you can enjoy a great breakfast or a hearty Sunday lunch if you are staying here for the weekend.
The rooms are beautiful and stylishly decorated with plenty of space and all the amenities you could need for a weekend away. We particularly loved the bed which we did not want to leave!
Maybe we will see you out on Canal Street soon!
