Curaçao is a stunning destination and one of the most popular islands in the Caribbean for gay travellers. Rest assured if you are looking for gay hotels in Curaçao or gay resorts in Curacao, you will be most welcome wherever you stay, in fact you will even find one gay hotel in Curaçao. [no_toc]
However, like anywhere in the world there are hotels in Curaçao that go the extra mile to make their LGBTQ guests feel extra comfortable and valued.
In this mini ‘Gay Friendly Hotels in Curaçao’ guide the hotels and resorts included have been involved in trips for LGBTQ travellers, go the extra mile when looking after the LGBTQ community, have been involved in pride or are simply gay!
Gay Resorts & Gay Hotels in Curaçao
First up, lets head straight to the one and only gay hotel in Curaçao:
[THUIS]HAVEN is a small-scale adults-only gay resort in Curaçao situated nearby some of the island’s most gorgeous beaches and within a short drive to the tourist hotspots in Willemstad. They offer the luxury of your own studio or apartment alongside some social elements of staying in a guest house.
There are six [THUIS]HAVEN studios and two off-site apartments, all of which include access to the colourful, artfully lit private garden, as well as the large (clothing-optional) pool with attached bar and lounge areas.
Most of the studios are suitable for up to two persons, however Studio Jan Kok offers space for ‘throuples’, and for Studio Barber it is possible to book an additional (attached) room which makes it suitable for up to 4 persons.
Reviews for this gay hotel in Curaçao are very postive:
”Beautiful garden, beautiful studio, great staff, great place! This is a new resort on curacao which is highly recommended if you are looking for a gay place. The place is classy, playful, modern, stylish and fun!” TripAdvisor review.
Gay Friendly Hotels Curaçao
Whilst there is only one exclusive gay resort in Curaçao, Curaçao has many beautiful gay friendly hotel and resort options to choose from.
We have chosen these gay friendly/gay hotels in Curaçao based on personal experience, local recommendations, research and those that appear on booking.com under the ‘Travel Proud’ catergory.
Avila Beach Hotel
We visited Avila Beach Hotel a couple of times during our stay in Curaçao and it would be very high on our list of gay friendly hotels to stay at in Curacao when we return. We took the time to meet one of the general managers who took us on a tour and told us more about how the LGBTQ community is important to them.
Avila Beach Hotel is leading the way when it comes to gay friendly hotels in Curaçao. They are a proud member of IGLTA (the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association), offer same-sex ceremonies (hopefully weddings soon pending a new court ruling) and make sure that they get involved in pride – they also hosted our dinner on the beach on our first night which was very romantic!
This is a beach-front hotel with two of its own private white sand beaches and crystal clear waters. You will also find plenty of dining options and an infinity pool on site.
Sandals Royal Curacao All Inclusive Couples Only
If you are looking for luxury this may be for you. The all-new Sandals Royal Curaçao is a romantic paradise designed for couples featuring 351 rooms and suites, including Seaside Bungalows with private pools, the first Kurason Island Suites overlooking a heart-shaped pool, and the unique Dos Awa 2-Level Infinity Pool. They offer 11 dining concepts, including three new food trucks, as well as the exclusive MINI Coopers available for complimentary use for select room categories
Coral Estate Luxury Resort
We spent the full day here and could have happily stayed longer.
Coral Estate Luxury Resort has a lot to offer from its white sand beach and inviting Turquoise waters, to the on site luxury spa, diving school, infinity pool and great dining options.
In terms of rooms/apartments, there is a lot to choose from, including premium villas with a private pool (this would be our choice). We could easily live on this luxury estate – it has everything you need.
Boutique Hotel ‘T Klooster
Boutique Hotel ‘t Klooster is a small-scale city hotel found in the colourful Pietermaai District. They offer a good breakfast (the pancakes are incredible) and a small pool to cool off in during the day.
This is where we stayed during our time, we loved that fact it felt authentic and quaint, the rooms are relatively basic but good value and it is a great location for walking into Willemstad and exploring attractions like Otrobanda.
Bohemian Boutique Hotel
In the heart of the popular Pietermaai district of Willemstad, the Boho Bohemian Boutique Hotel offers a quiet and beautiful retreat, again with a great central location.
Kura Botanica Hotel
The renewed boutique hotel, Kura Botanica Hotel is located in the Kura Hulanda Village, which is pinpointed in the downtown area of Curacao, offering a historic village experience of the 17 & 18 centuries in the centre of Willemstad. Spread over an eight- block area, this property offers a unique luxury experience in a botanical and tranquil retreat, which provides complete privacy and intimacy.
Dreams Curacao Resort, Spa & Casino
Our final property in our list of the best gay resorts in Curacao is Dreams Curacao Resort.
This is a 5* beachfront resort that has the booking.com ‘Travel Proud’ accreditation promising you an extra welcoming stay.
The resort is based in Willemstad and has an outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre and garden. Boastin
