Gay Siem Reap: Complete LGBTQ+ Travel Guide (2026)

Gay Siem Reap Travel Guide: Siem Reap is one of the most gay friendly cities in Cambodia, with a growing gay scene, new gay bars, a dedicated gay hotel and plenty of wellness options – it is also home to iconic sites including the world-famous and beautiful Angkor Wat.

I recently spent a week in Siem Reap and visited the local gay bars, met with LGBTQ+ locals and experienced some of the best things to do in Siem Reap.

I found that the gay scene here has changed significantly over the years, with new gay bars that aren’t yet listed in many of the existing Siem Reap gay guides online.

In this detailed gay guide to Siem Reap, I will share the most up to date information on the gay bars, gay scene, where to stay in Siem Reap, what to do and everything you need to plan your trip. Let’s go!

For more on gay travel around South East Asia, see my South East Asia Gay Travel Guide and for more on Cambodia, see my Gay Phnom Penh Guide.

Is Siem Reap Gay Friendly?

is siem reap gay friendly?

Yes, Siem Reap is a gay friendly city. Here you will find a number of gay bars, hotels and other LGBTQ+ friendly venues. The city felt very safe and welcoming, the people of Cambodia are very friendly.

LGBTQ+ Rights in Cambodia

Socially, Cambodia is generally a welcoming place for LGBTQ+ people, especially in cities like Phnom Penh (see my Gay Phnom Penh Guide) and Siem Reap. If you would like to hear from a local, read my interview with Sopheap who runs a gay bar in Phnom Penh.

However, LGBTQ+ people in Cambodia do not currently have full legal equality. There have been growing discussions around equal marriage, with Cambodia accepting recommendations in its 2024 Universal Periodic Review to continue progress towards LGBTQ+ equality.

As a summary:

  • LGBTQ+ relations are legal.
  • Equal marriage is not legally recognised, but the concept is supported by the King and ongoing discussions are happening.
  • There are no comprehensive LGBTQ+ anti-discrimination protections, although general equality is mentioned in the law.
  • Legal gender recognition for trans people remains limited.

Is there a gay scene in Siem Reap?

Yes, there is a growing but small gay scene in Siem Reap, predominantly centred around Street 7, just one street up from the popular Pub Street. Expect to find gay bars, gay spas and even dedicated gay hotels.

Where is the Gay Area in Siem Reap?

There is no official gay area in Siem Reap per se. However, the majority of the gay bars are all clustered on one street, Street 7, in the heart of the city, with another gay bar just a few minutes walk away from Street 7.

If you want to stay close to Siem Reap’s gay nightlife, take a look for accommodation around Street 7, Pub Street and the Old Market area.

Best Gay Bars in Siem Reap

I visited these Siem Reap gay bars in October 2026. As such, the below list of gay bars in Siem Reap is the latest and most up to date information.

Please note that the gay bar scene in Siem Reap has changed over the years, at one point having no gay bars at all, and can change relatively often so it is always worth checking the listing are active.

The gay bars in Siem Reap can broadly be split as follows:

  • For drag: Barcode, GOD and Halo
  • For drinks and massage: Peacock and Rendezvous
  • For something local/low-key: Cheeky Monkey Cocktail Truck

Barcode Bar Siem Reap

gay bars siem reap

Barcode Bar Siem Reap was one of my favorite gay bars during my visit. The bar is very stylish and centred around a drag stage where it felt that the drag acts were on a continuous rotation with barely any breaks in entertainment at all.

This made the bar feel easy to enjoy as a solo traveller as I could sit back and watch the performers. You can either sit at the bar, or on the sofas and get table service – they also have an outside seating area at the back.

A must visit if you are exploring the gay bar scene in Siem Reap! Follow Barcode on Instagram.

Address: Mondul 1 Village, New Street A, Krong Siem Reap 17252, Cambodia

GOD Gay Club Siem Reap

Another great and stylish gay bar in Siem Reap, also with plenty of drag acts to keep you entertained.

GOD actually stands for ‘Gays on Display’ and is open every night from 8pm to 2am with shows starting at 9pm with regular 10 minute intervals.

GOD is clustered on the same street (one street up from Pub Street) along with Rendezvous and Peacock (below) – the bar is also slightly off the street in an alley so a little hard to immediately spot. Keep up to date with GOD Gay Club Siem Reap here.

Address: 081 2 Thnou St, Krong Siem Reap, Cambodia

Halo Siem Reap

You might miss this new gay bar in Siem Reap as the listing on Google Maps does not list it as a gay bar, but rest assured, I spoke with a local and they told me that Halo is a big gay bar and they are also planning to open cafe soon.

Here, they also have top class drag acts and maybe a cowboy dancer or two ready to entertain you all night! Check in with Halo here.

Address: 9V72+FM9, Krong Siem Reap, Cambodia

Peacock Bar & Spa

Peacock Bar & Spa is another fun gay bar in Siem Reap, just down a small alley just off Street 7, one street up from Pub Street.

It has a relaxed atmosphere, a free pool table and a well stocked bar. The distinction here, as with Rendezvous, is that they have an on-site spa offering massages.

The bar is open daily from 4pm until 1am, with massages available from 12pm to 11pm.

Address: 9V43+8P, Krong Siem Reap, Cambodia

Rendezvous Bar and Massage

Also tucked down the same alley at Peacock, Rendezvous Bar and Massage is another gay bar that doubles up as a massage/spa spot.

The staff are very friendly and will approach and talk to you to see if you would like a massage.

Address: Street 07, Krong Siem Reap 17252, Cambodia

Cheeky Monkey Cocktail Truck

Siem reap gay bars

A gay Tuk Tuk Bar? I found this one on my final night in Siem Reap by chance.

A surprise and very low key ‘gay bar’ in Siem Reap and again, not listed on Google Maps as a gay bar – however the owner is gay and he lists his bar in his Grindr bio as a ‘Gay Tuk Tuk Bar’!

This gay bar in Siem Reap is a converted Tuk Tuk acting as the bar on the side of the street with a few tables laid out. Very low key and local, the bar has been there for a year and I’d love for you to go and check it out and support!

Address: Sok San Rd, Krong Siem Reap, Cambodia

Gay Hotels in Siem Reap

Siem Reap has a handful of gay owned and gay focused accommodation options, including one dedicated gay men’s hotel. So, if you want to stay somewhere specifically geared towards LGBTQ+ travellers, take a look at the following options:

MEN’s Resort and Spa (Gay Hotel)

gay hotel in siem reap

MEN’s Resort and Spa is a men only gay hotel in Siem Reap along with an on site sauna (open to outside visitors also but separate from the hotel), massage spa, outdoor saltwater pool and gym.

Rooms are modern with Asian-inspired décor and you will also find a restaurant on site. A great little quiet oasis to place yourself whilst you explore Siem Reap!

Rambutan Hotel and Resort

gay friendly hotel siem reap

The Rambutan Hotel and Resort is considered to have been the first gay owned and gay friendly boutique hotel in Siem Reap, opening in 2006 – noting unlike Mens Resort and Spa, it is not exclusively for gay men but has a long history of welcoming LGBTQ+ travellers and is very loud and proud about this fact!

Location wise this is a little closer to the heart of the city and Pub Street, being just a 5 minute walk away.

The hotel ground area set around lush tropical gardens, with spacious rooms, some of which feature private terraces, outdoor bathtubs and rooftop spaces.

3 Monkeys Villa

gay friendly hotel siem reap

I am including 3 Monkeys Villa as it is clearly a gay owned and boutique gay friendly option, a short drive to the centre of Siem Reap – however, I would like to be clearer than the current search result information for this property.

It appears this was previously an exclusively gay property (and is still listed as one on certain platforms), but now appears to be open to all and simply gay owned and gay friendly. The villa is made up of 6-8 rooms depending on the set up and can be rented out in full.

Reviews consistently mention being well looked after by your host.

Gay Friendly Hotels in Siem Reap

There are plenty of gay friendly hotels in Siem Reap, including some that have completed training to make sure they give their LGBTQ+ guests the best welcome and experience possible (such as those properties that have the Travel Proud stamp on booking.com – you can use this as a filter when searching!).

During my time in Siem Reap, I stayed at the following hotels which were stunning. Compared to travelling in the US or Europe, the level of service and luxury I recommend below is much more affordable.

Viroth’s Hotel

gay siem reap

Viroth’s Hotel is a luxury 5* hotel just a ten minute walk from the heart of Siem Reap and the popular Pub Street area. It is where I chose to stay for my final couple of nights in Siem Reap.

The hotel is a boutique style hotel, with a beautiful pool area at its centre, gym, on site spa and stylish rooms with cute terraces.

The staff here were wonderful and incredibly attentive. A great choice for location and style.

Viroth’s Hotel also has completed Travel Proud training through booking.com to make sure that it gives it’s LGBTQ+ guests the best welcome. Always a good indicator that a hotel is doing the work to be welcoming!

Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor

raffles siem reap gay friendly hotel

Raffles is synonymous with luxury and has every single detail of the hotel well thought out, full of character and served to you with impeccable service.

From the welcome towels and drinks, to the poolside complimentary body oils and face mists, the turndown service and seemingly every door being automatically held open for you, I have never felt quite so well looked after.

The hotel itself has so much character, in the rooms, the amenities, even the lift is unique and classy. A key feature is that Raffles has the largest pool in Siem Reap, which feels like you are swimming in a Palace. I highly, highly recommend.

Gay Saunas in Siem Reap

Siem Reap has one gay sauna for you to visit:

  • MEN’s Spa (at MEN’s Resort & Spa) – this is the main gay sauna in Siem Reap, open to hotel guests and outside visitors. The venue has lockers, showers, a sauna, steam rooms, dry labyrinths, a large jacuzzi and other spaces. Open every day from 5 PM to 10:30 PM. Entry is $5 for a day pass or complimentary for hotel guests.

Gay Massage in Siem Reap

Wellness is a huge deal in Siem Reap, with spas and massage places all over, however for a gay massage and spa experience in Siem Reap:

  • Rendezvous Bar and Massage – this gay bar also offers massage services.
  • Peacock Bar and Spa – this gay bar also offers massage services.
  • Guy Spa and Massages – this looks like a new spot, not mentioned online that it is gay. However it is an all male massage spot, with a rainbow gecko as its logo outside – seems pretty gay to me! You will find this on Little Pub Street.

Siem Reap Gay Pride

Siem Reap Gay Pride is growing year on year. Celebrations are usually in May and it seems that the events are organised by various queer businesses (there does not seem to be one big organisation online to get information from for pride).

In May 2026 they held their first Pride Walk through Siem Reap and of course had plenty of drag show events, fashion shows, the queer choir performing and plenty going on at the gay bars.

It looks like Beautiful Life Organisation, an NGO in Siem Reap promoting diversity is very involved with Pride so their Facebook page would be a good place to keep tabs on what might be happening next May.

Gay Map of Siem Reap

Take a look at my gay map of Siem Reap to see where all the places mentioned in the post are located:

Things to do in Siem Reap for Gay Travellers

Siem Reap is a very adventurous destination, full of history and culture. Make sure to experience the following activities on your visit:

Angkor Wat and Angkor Archaeological Park

angkor wat siem reap

Perhaps the most iconic thing to do and see in Siem Reap, visit Angkor Wat (Wat meaning Temple).

Ideally you should arrive before sunrise, and watch the sunrise outside of the gates before entering and exploring the main site.

Entry tickets for one day are around $37, you can buy tickets or tours in advance here.

Tuk Tuk Lady Driver – Support Siem Reap’s Female Tuk-Tuk Drivers

Tuk Tuk lady driver

I highly, highly recommend using Tuk Tuk Lady Driver where possible, especially for tours in Siem Reap.

I met the woman who started it all during my trip, Kim, and her story is incredible. She is a single mother, who needed a flexible job and took it upon herself to get her licence, take a loan to buy a Tuk Tuk and enter a male dominated field. Initially business was a struggle, with people not trusting a woman driver, however fast forward and now there are over 100 women Tuk Tuk drivers working with Kim – read her full story on Tuk Tuk Lady.

Book a tour here.

See Phare, The Cambodian Circus

One of my favorite experiences in Siem Reap. Phare Circus is a high energy circus show, with incredibly skilled performers, acrobats, musicians and more.

There is a pre show staging area, with food stalls and mini performances going on before the main show which lasts for an hour.

Definitely one of the best things to do whilst you are in Siem Reap – I suggest booking zone B, my seat was great!

Visit the Floating Villages

A unique way of living, nearby Siem Reap are the floating villages on the Tonlé Sap Lake. Houses are made on stilts and entire communities are set up here.

You can see the villages on tours, however please be mindful and respectful when taking photos, especially if families with children are in shot – this is their home after all.

You can see all the different tour options here.

Wellness and Spas

There is a huge range of options when it comes to massages and spa treatments in Siem Reap, with some 60 minute Khmer massages being as little at $8.

I tried a couple of different places, Massage Spa Siem Reap for a great foot scrub and massage, and then Lotus Dream Spa for a deep tissue full body massage.

Day and Night Markets

Another famous aspect of the city to explore is the day and night markets. Both for general shopping and for food.

Note that for general shopping of trinkets and clothing in the markets, haggling is expected, so be calm and respectful and know that the first price is far higher than the final price.

Temple Tours

It’s not all about Angkor Wat, there are many other beautiful temples and archaeological sites to explore (ideally on a tour with a Lady Tuk Tuk). Other popular ones include Bayon Temple and Ta Prohm.

Pub Street

This feels like the central hub of the city, full of places to eat and drink. Come here on the evening to feel the energy.

Where to eat in Siem Reap

There are so many places that could be mentioned, the food in Siem Reap was great. A couple of options I would suggest:

  • Street food – there are lots of street food vendors. If you head from Pub Street to the river you will see lots of seating on the grass by the river and meals for as little as $2.
  • Mesa Restaurant – this is on Pub Street and I went back twice. It is a Cambodian restaurant with super tasty and impeccably presented dishes. I had pineapple fried rice with beef twice ($8).
  • SPOONS Café Restaurant – a must visit for all the right reasons. The food is great, serving authentic Cambodian dishes, and the venue enables underprivileged Cambodian young adults to become self-supporting through education, training, and employment opportunities in the hospitality industry.
  • Embassy – this is a premier fine-dining, women-led restaurant in Siem Reap. A beautiful location and a delectable menu.

Getting around Siem Reap

Siem Reap is very easy to get around.

  • Walking – If you are staying in the centre (close to Pub Street) you can walk around easily to explore bars, restaurants, shops and markets.
  • Tuk Tuks – you can hail a Tuk Tuk from the street and agree a price to the destination in advance. That being said, see Grab below.
  • Grab – the Uber for Cambodia, on Grab you can order Tuk Tuks, taxis and food. You can pay by cash (the agreed price on the app) or pay on the app with your card. a 15 minute journey in a Tuk Tuk on Grab is about $1-2, a journey to the airport (1 hour) is about $25 in a taxi or less in a Tuk Tuk.
  • Tuk Tuk Lady Driver – for any tours, travel or trips to temples, I highly, highly recommend using Tuk Tuk Lady Driver (mentioned above). Contact them here.

How Many Days do you need in Siem Reap?

3 days in Siem Reap is a comfortable amount of time to see the iconic temples, explore the city centre and indulge in some wellness.

If you also want to experience the gay nightlife, visit the floating villages and explore several temples without rushing, I’d recommend 4–5 days. I spent a week here and had plenty to keep me busy.
