Best Gay Beaches in Puerto Rico
Like I have said, I’ll start easy with the most popular and busy gay beach in Puerto Rico before moving onto the quieter and more low key ones further afield.
Condado Gay Beach San Juan – Most Popular Gay Beach in Puerto Rico

This is the most popular gay beach in San Juan, Puerto Rico – specifically on Sundays and specifically right in front of the gay hotel, The Tryst.
The Tryst runs a drag brunch on Sunday, the combination of this event, at a gay hotel and this being the location of the gay beach makes ‘Gay Sunday’ a real thing and makes this the place to be.
There are beds and umbrellas for hire and you can order drinks from The Atlantic at The Tryst.
Want to see it for real? Take a look at my Instagram tour of Condado gay beach.

Below I have marked the gay beach and the nearby hotels for your stay.
Ocean Park Gay Beach San Juan – A Local Gay Beach in Puerto Rico
Ocean Park gay beach gives a more local gay beach vibe in San Juan. Specifically in the area in front of Numero Uno Guesthouse. This is also known for being quite cruisey, as well as the nearby Ocean Park itself.
The is a good option and easy to access if you are staying at the nearby gay guesthouse, Coqui del Mar. Sometimes this guesthouse does ‘tours’ to show you this area.

Playa Escondida Gay Beach Fajardo
Note: it is not allowed to be nude in Puerto Rico. Playa Escondida is popular with nudists and unsurprisingly with that it has become an unofficial gay beach in Puerto Rico.
To reach Playa Escondida in Fajardo, you’ll need to do a 25-minute hike from Seven Seas Beach through a mangrove forest. Swimming here is not encouraged as the area is notorious for its strong currents and rip tides.

Gay Beaches in Manati
I have been told about a couple of gay beaches in Manati, Puerto Rico.
They are away from the typical tourist areas so there is no guarantee they will be busy. However if you find yourself in the Manati municipality of Puerto Rico, take a look at Playa Esperanza and Playa las Golodrinas.

For the gay beach Playa Las Golondrinas, Manati, I have been sent this information from a local: Red-Beach area and in the trails (cruising), blue-trails to get to the beach (about 7-10 min walk). Yellow-“parking” in the street but to the left side (so you don’t get a ticket).
Gay Beach in Boqueron

Another very gay place in Puerto Rico is Boqueron, Cabo Rojo. It’s perhaps no surprise there is an unofficial gay beach spot here also.
Also direct from a local who messaged me:
”Red- beach area, at night green attracts people, there is a open space but at night very good meeting spot in the bushes. Blue area attracts people to the beach, under the trees behind “El Shamar” bar.”
For hotels in this area:
I hope you have found this Puerto Rico gay beach guide useful! I can’t wait to return and experience more! You can also find out more about gay beaches in Puerto Rico on Discover Puerto Rico (the tourism boards website).
