Gay Hotels and Resorts in Puerto Rico: I am happy to report that there are a number of gay hotels in Puerto Rico! Some are exclusively gay hotels, some gay owned but with a heavily gay crowd and some are simply gay owned but popular with everyone.
Most gay hotels in Puerto Rico are found in San Juan (where all the gay bars in Puerto Rico are), but there are also some LGBTQ+ friendly options over on the island of Vieques.
In this post, I will share with you the best gay hotels in Puerto Rico as well as a recommendation for a luxury gay friendly hotel in Puerto Rico.

Best Gay Hotels in San Juan
There are 4 gay hotels in San Juan, which is quite a lot for a relatively small city. Each offers something different and caters to different budgets.
Coqui del Mar
I love Coqui del Mar and spent a whole week there during my last trip. The owners Rob and Vianney are a delight and make sure that all the guests are well looked after.
Coqui del Mar is a gay, clothing optional guest house in San Juan. This is a small property, with a casual and relaxed community feel. Each room is uniquely designed and dedicated to a colour of the rainbow – its fun, tongue in cheek and very gay.
Your stay includes a daily breakfast with a buffet and hot food made to order, complimentary brunch on Saturday and Sunday and even another catered barbecue every Monday.
They have a small pool and a jacuzzi where you can relax.
This is best for gay travellers looking for a relaxed vibe, a casual setting and a sociable crowd.

The Tryst Hotel
Tryst Hotels are a collection of luxury gay boutique hotels that have been popping up at some of the most popular gay travel hotspots around the world.
The Tryst San Juan, Puerto Rico had a huge renovation transforming it into a luxury beach front resort.
It is also home to The Atlantic at the Tryst which serves food and drinks and a drag brunch on Sundays which I thoroughly enjoyed. And if that was not gay enough, the beach in front of The Tryst becomes the gay beach every sunday! Read more about the best gay beaches in Puerto Rico here.
Best for gay travellers wanting access to the gay beach and access to the nearby gay bars.

Romeo Gay Hotel
One of the newer gay hotels in Puerto Rico, Romeo Hotel LGBTQ in San Juan offers air-conditioned rooms with private bathrooms and guests can enjoy a rooftop swimming pool with a view, terrace, bar, and free WiFi.
Best for gay travellers wanting to spend time in nearby Old San Juan.

Firehouse
The new sister property nearby Coqui del Mar. Firehouse is another gay guesthouse in San Juan with a pool, gym and clothing optional spaces.
It’s fireman inspired theme might just raise your temperature!
Similar to Coqui del Mar, but a little calmer perhaps.

Gay Hotels in Vieques – where to stay beyond San Juan!
It’s not all about San Juan, there are other places to stay outside of San Juan and I highly recommend Vieques. Vieques is a small island just a 20 minute flight from mainland Puerto Rico.
I would personally suggest you start or finish your trip to Puerto Rico here for a couple of nights. It is somewhere for you to go slow and relax.
Club Vieques
One of the newest gay owned hotels and resorts in Puerto Rico. Club Vieques is an adults only hotel on the island of Vieques (a 20 minute flight from the main island).
They have clothing optional pool and pool bar area which is beautiful, it’s giving Mykonos beach club vibes. The property is also slightly raised on a hill so you have great views in all directions.
Each Saturday they host a chilled T-dance esque DJ party where you can dance, mingle, and enjoy a cocktail or two.

Casa de Amistad
I managed to pop by and visit this gay owned property during my stay on Vieques, it is super cute, very well kept and the owners Mike and John were lovely.
Casa de Amistad is cozy eight-room guesthouse on the island of Vieques, Puerto Rico, an easy 20-minute flight from San Juan that is home to a number of the world’s top-ranked beaches and the most vibrant bioluminescent bay on Earth.
Best for gay travellers wanting to experience the more local side of Vieques.

With Puerto Rico being such a gay friendly and safe destination, of course you can expect to feel welcome everywhere.

This definitely has the wow factor. This is a huge luxury resort over 15 acres that sits on 2 miles of the award winning Isla Verde Beach.
I spent the afternoon here in one of their luxury cabanas which was an awesome experience.

The Royal Sonesta San Juan
Another very beautiful gay friendly hotel and resort in Puerto Rico. The Royal Sonesta is a 4* hotel just 2km from the airport for an easy transfer, with spa facilities and 6 restaurants for you to choose from.
And quite importantly, it does indeed have a swim up bar.
For gay hotels and resorts in Puerto Rico, it is great to see the above dedicated options for your trip, but of course with Puerto Rico being a very gay friendly destination, you will find the majority of hotels to be very gay friendly so rest assured, you will have an awesome time!
