Gay Hotels in Athens: 11 Best LGBTQ+ Friendly Hotels (2026)

Athens is one of the most popular gay travel destinations in Greece, and whilst Athens does not have any exclusively gay hotels, it has plenty of gay friendly hotel options, especially those located in Athens’ main gay neighbourhood, Gazi.

In this Athens Gay Hotel Guide, I will share the best areas for gay travellers to stay in Athens and a selection of gay friendly hotels in each area depending on what you are looking for from your stay in Athens.

Are there any Gay Hotels in Athens?

There are no exclusively gay hotels in Athens. However there are a number of LGBTQ+ owned or actively LGBTQ+ friendly hotels in Athens.

Most gay travellers coming to Athens will choose to stay in a gay friendly hotel in Gazi. Gazi is the main gay area in Athens, where you will find the majority of gay bars and other LGBTQ+ venues.

In this guide I will share recommendations based on personal stays in Athens, brands that I know do a good job in welcoming the LGBTQ+ community to their properties and hotels that have completed LGBTQ+ inclusivity training, such as Booking.com’s Travel Proud programme.

Where should Gay Travellers stay in Athens?

Depending on what your priority is for your trip to Athens, whether that be gay nightlife, or visiting iconic sites like the Acropolis, will determine which area is best for you.

Key areas or neighbourhoods for gay travellers to stay in Athens include:

  • Gazi – the most popular for gay travellers who are looking for gay nightlife. This is where you will find the majority of the gay bars and clubs in Athens all within walking distance of each other. Great for a first time visit and a gay night out in Gazi.
  • Monastiraki – this is another neighbourhood nearby to Gazi so remains convenient for the gay scene and also maintains a very gay friendly atmosphere. Here you will find the popular gay cafe, Rooster and Flex Sauna. It is also great for being near key attractions.
  • Psirri – also neighbours Monastiraki and is close to Gazi. Great for boutique hotels and access to nightlife.
  • Koukaki – a slightly quieter neighbourhood which sits just south of the Acropolis, so very convenient to tick off this iconic site. You will also find Koukles Club Drag Show Bar in this area.
  • Athens Riviera – and for an escape from the city, for a beach moment, you can stay in Athens Riviera (about a 20 minute drive from the centre or 50 minute metro). P.s if you are interested in gay beaches near Athens, see my Athens Gay Beach Guide.

This is ideal if (like me) you prefer an apartment style place with a full kitchen to cook your own food vs a regular hotel room. The living spaces are large and homely, so perhaps also a good option if you are staying longer in Athens.
